Reacting to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s alleged threat of legal action against journalists, Federal Minister Atta Tarar wrote on X that when performance cannot be defended, attacks on the media begin.

He further stated that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa want to know why terrorism is increasing, why development projects are stalled, why investment is not coming, and why young people are struggling to find employment.

It is worth noting that Sohail Afridi instructed all provincial secretaries to issue legal notices within three days to media houses reporting on corruption.

In the audio, Sohail Afridi further says that any government official who fails to take legal action against media houses will face action on the fourth day.

It is being claimed that attempts are being made to suppress free journalism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sohail Afridi has directed officials to take legal action against media houses within three days.

It is also noted that stories of corruption in government institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are continuously appearing in the media, while Sohail Afridi is reportedly displeased with the media due to reporting on corruption.
