Washington: Amid rising tensions related to Iran, an important statement has emerged from the Pentagon, saying there was no clear evidence that Iran was preparing to launch a preemptive attack on U.S. forces.
According to media reports, th pentagon told senior officials of the Trump Administration during a briefing that the United States did not possess intelligence indicating that Iran was about to strike American troops.
A foreign news agency, citing two informed sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, reported that administration officials acknowledged there was no concrete intelligence proof of an imminent Iranian attack on U.S. forces.
The report further stated that a recent briefing to Congress weakened a key argument that had been presented in support of military action. It is noteworthy that a day earlier, senior officials had told journalists that President Trump decided to carry out the strikes partly based on indications that Iran might potentially launch a preemptive attack on U.S. forces stationed in the Middle East.
