Canada’s Foreign Minister, Anita Anand, has praised Pakistan’s role in advancing ceasefire negotiations, calling it commendable at a critical time.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, she said she held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, during which they discussed the evolving situation in the Middle East in detail. During the call, Ishaq Dar briefed her on the progress made in ceasefire talks.
Anita Anand expressed Canada’s full support for ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving peace and stressed the importance of protecting civilian lives and vital infrastructure. She also urged all parties involved to act responsibly in the current situation.
Thanking Pakistan for its efforts, she noted that its role in facilitating dialogue and pushing forward negotiations is highly appreciable. She further added that Canada values its relationship with Pakistan.
Both leaders agreed to remain in contact and continue working together on shared priorities, particularly in strengthening economic cooperation and enhancing people-to-people ties.
Similar sentiments have also been echoed by other countries, including Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, which have acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement and its efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation in the region.
