Web Desk: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir joined Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Baku on Friday to mark the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day. The grand ceremony celebrated Azerbaijan’s triumph in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and underscored the growing ties between the three nations.
High-ranking officials, diplomats, and military representatives from several countries attended the event, which featured a spirited military parade and cultural performances.
Pakistani Jets Steal the Show
A highlight of the ceremony was a dazzling air show by the Pakistan Air Force. Fighter jets performed intricate formations in the skies over Baku, symbolizing Pakistan and Azerbaijan’s close friendship and defense cooperation. The display drew loud applause from spectators and foreign dignitaries alike.
Shehbaz: “Our Hearts Beat as One”
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye share deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood and solidarity.
“The hearts of our peoples beat together,” he said. “I thank Azerbaijan and Türkiye for standing with Pakistan during times of Indian aggression.”
Sharif congratulated the Azerbaijani nation and government on their Victory Day and expressed pride in attending the celebrations. “It is an honor to be part of this historic event that celebrates the triumph of truth,” he said.
He praised Azerbaijan’s peace accord with Armenia and commended international efforts, including those of former U.S. President Donald Trump, in facilitating regional stability. Sharif also lauded President Erdoğan’s leadership in transforming Türkiye into a dynamic and prosperous nation.
Aliyev: “Friendship That Cannot Be Forgotten”
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the distinguished guests and hailed the enduring friendship among the three countries.
“Türkiye and Pakistan stood by us in difficult times, and this will never be forgotten,” he said. “I am pleased to have my brothers Shehbaz Sharif and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan here today.”
Aliyev added that the cooperation between Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Türkiye had reached “new heights,” emphasizing joint participation of friendly military contingents in the parade.
Erdoğan Calls the Three Nations “One Family”
In his address, President Erdoğan congratulated the Azerbaijani people and praised their courage in defending their homeland.
“Under President Aliyev’s leadership, Azerbaijan has achieved remarkable success,” Erdoğan said. “Türkiye, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan are one family, bound by shared history, faith, and destiny. We must continue to move forward in unity and solidarity.”
The Turkish leader emphasized strengthening trilateral cooperation in defense, trade, and regional peace, calling the Victory Day celebration a “symbol of resilience and brotherhood.”
