PM Shehbaz

Web Desk: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif addressed the nation on Friday to outline Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at preventing a potential military conflict between the United States and Iran. During the televised speech, the Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan seeks to shield the region from the devastating consequences of a large-scale war.

The Prime Minister confirmed that Pakistan is currently engaging on two critical fronts to maintain regional stability. Specifically, the government has initiated high-level diplomatic dialogues with the leadership of Iran and various Gulf nations. These discussions focus on de-escalating tensions and fostering a climate of reconciliation. Furthermore, the Prime Minister described these efforts as both an international responsibility and a religious duty to protect the region from further instability.

A central component of this strategy involves the active participation of the military leadership. Specifically, Prime Minister Sharif lauded Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Defence Forces, for playing a decisive and key role in the success of the reconciliation process. As the first officer to hold the dual-hatted position of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Munir is leveraging his rapport with international leaders to facilitate back-channel diplomacy. This unified civil-military approach highlights Pakistan’s coordinated stance in navigating an extraordinary and difficult global situation.

Additionally, the Prime Minister commended the tireless efforts of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. He noted that the minister is working with complete sincerity and dedication to coordinate with international partners. Consequently, these synchronized efforts aim to provide relief to the Pakistani people by ensuring that regional volatility does not further impact the domestic economy.

As the international community monitors the situation, Pakistan continues to position itself as a vital bridge for peace in the Middle East. However, the Prime Minister noted that achieving lasting security requires the continued cooperation of all global stakeholders. Therefore, the government plans to maintain its proactive diplomatic stance until a sustainable resolution is reached.
