Web Desk: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to launch a comprehensive framework aimed at deepening economic cooperation between the two countries, following a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh on Monday.

According to a joint statement issued after the meeting, the new framework will focus on advancing bilateral trade, investment and development partnerships, marking a significant step in the nearly eight-decade-long relationship between the two brotherly nations.

The framework promotes collaboration in several strategic sectors, including energy, industry, mining, information technology, tourism, agriculture, and food security. It also envisions a greater role for the private sector and aims to boost mutual trade flows through diversified projects and investments.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties rooted in Islamic solidarity, shared economic interests and mutual respect. The statement highlighted that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are already collaborating on several joint ventures, including a memorandum of understanding on electricity interconnection and agreements in the energy sector.

The framework, the statement noted, will “further consolidate the brotherly relations” between the two nations and “lay the foundation for a sustainable partnership in economic, trade and investment domains.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also expressed their determination to expand bilateral cooperation at the next session of the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council, underscoring their shared vision for a stronger, more integrated economic future.
