Web Desk: Pakistan strongly condemned the Indian court’s decision against Kashmiri activist Asiya Andrabi on Wednesday, calling for the international community and human rights organizations to intervene.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi described the Delhi court’s recent ruling as a violation of justice and a politically motivated move. He stated that the verdict reflects the ongoing suppression of fundamental human rights in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Foreign Office, this decision belongs to a broader policy designed to silence dissent and intimidate those advocating for the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people. The spokesperson noted that such actions raise serious questions regarding the transparency of the judicial process and the independence of the judiciary in India.
The official statement highlighted that Asiya Andrabi has long served as a prominent voice for the Kashmir cause. Officials argued that her sentencing demonstrates a systematic effort by India to restrict political expression and civil liberties within the occupied territory.
Pakistan warned that these types of judicial rulings increase regional tensions and undermine efforts toward peace and stability. Consequently, the government urged the United Nations and international human rights bodies to hold India accountable for its actions.
The Foreign Office emphasized the need to ensure the political, social, and human rights of the Kashmiri people, including their right to a fair trial. Furthermore, Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination as outlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions.
