LAHORE — Cricket fans in Pakistan will witness a thrilling home series as the Australian cricket team confirmed its tour to Pakistan at the end of January. The tour includes a three-match T20 series against Pakistan, Pakistan Cricket Board officials said on Tuesday.
All matches will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The series will start on January 29, with the remaining games scheduled for January 31 and February 1.
Tosses are set for 5:30 p.m., and the matches will begin at 6 p.m., offering fans high-voltage contests under floodlights, officials added.
According to the PCB, the Australian T20 squad will arrive in Lahore on Wednesday, January 28. The team will receive special security and accommodation arrangements. During their stay, Australia will also hold training sessions at Gaddafi Stadium.
“This series is crucial for both teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026,” PCB officials said. Experts note that it will allow teams to assess strengths and weaknesses, and trial potential World Cup combinations.
Pakistan has been placed in Group A and Australia in Group B for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. However, cricket analysts say the series remains highly significant for both sides as a preparation platform.
This tour marks Australia’s third visit to Pakistan since March 2022, reflecting renewed global confidence in Pakistan’s international cricket and security arrangements. In 2022, Australia played a Test series, three ODIs, and a T20 match in Pakistan.
Experts believe that facing a strong team like Australia at home will help Pakistan refine its World Cup strategies. In addition, the series is expected to boost fan engagement and excitement across the country.
