ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed heartfelt sympathy with the people of Türkiye following the tragic crash of a C-130 aircraft near the Azerbaijan-Georgia border.
In a condolence statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan deeply sympathizes with the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. “In this moment of sorrow, Pakistan stands in full solidarity with our Turkish brothers and sisters,” the statement added.
The Foreign Office further said Pakistan shares Türkiye’s grief and prays for the departed souls and for strength to the bereaved families.
According to reports, the Turkish Air Force’s C-130 transport aircraft crashed near the Azerbaijan-Georgia border shortly after taking off, killing all 20 personnel on board. The plane was en route from Azerbaijan to Türkiye when it went down.
Turkish news agency reports quoted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as expressing deep sorrow over the incident during a ceremony in Ankara. He said the Turkish C-130 military cargo plane crashed while returning from Azerbaijan and that rescue teams, in coordination with local authorities, were engaged in recovery operations. “Our prayers are with our martyrs,” Erdoğan added.
