Rawalpindi (April 6, 2026): Pakistan and Egypt have started a two-week-long joint military exercise, Thunder-II which to enhance counter-terrorism skills and strengthening defence cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the bilateral exercise commenced on Monday at the Special Operations School Cherat.
Elite troops from the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) and the Egyptian Army’s Special Forces are taking part in the drills.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Commandant of the Special Operations School, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The exercise is designed to improve professional skills through joint training and to deepen long-standing military-to-military relations between Pakistan and Egypt.
During the training, participating troops will share operational experiences and expertise, particularly in counter-terrorism operations.
Defence officials say such joint exercises play a vital role in promoting cooperation, interoperability, and mutual understanding between the armed forces of friendly nations.
