Web Desk: Pakistan is continuing diplomatic efforts to resolve ongoing tensions, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, emphasising Islamabad’s commitment to de-escalation through engagement.
Meanwhile, he noted that, through the efforts of Syed Asim Munir, two Pakistani vessels stranded in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz have safely transited the waterway.
The prime minister also said that Pakistan has made full efforts to cool the flames of war in the region. In this regard, Deputy Prime Minister and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir are playing a key role.
Earlier the Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan is maintaining close contact with United States leadership and remains engaged in continuous diplomatic consultations.
Speaking at a weekly briefing in Islamabad, he added that the prime minister and deputy prime minister have held multiple engagements with counterparts from various countries as part of ongoing efforts to promote regional peace.
Meanwhile, foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt visited Pakistan for detailed discussions on the evolving situation in the Middle East, which Andrabi described as dangerous, stressing that diplomacy remains the only path forward.
Furthermore, he said recent exchanges with China underscored the importance of safeguarding maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, while a joint five-point peace initiative has gained international attention and been shared with key stakeholders, including Iran and the United States.
