Pakistan cancels scheduled press conference in Dubai ahead of Asia Cup clash

Web desk: The Pakistan cricket team’s scheduled press conference in Dubai was unexpectedly cancelled on Tuesday evening, according to team sources.

The media briefing, which had been planned for 7:30 pm, was called off without any official reason given.

Players are still expected to train at 9 pm, though sources have hinted that the session could also be dropped depending on how matters unfold.

Pakistan is set to take on the United Arab Emirates in their Asia Cup fixture tomorrow.

The cancellation comes at a time of growing strain between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The dispute centres on match referee Andy Pycroft, whose role in the Pakistan–India clash drew sharp criticism from the PCB.

Pakistan formally requested his removal from the tournament, but the ICC turned down the appeal.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is now preparing to hold consultations with senior government figures in Lahore to decide the board’s next course of action.

A formal statement outlining Pakistan’s position on both the Asia Cup and the ICC’s decision is expected shortly.

Sources also revealed that, if their concerns are not addressed, Pakistan might even weigh the option of withdrawing from the tournament altogether.
