Web Desk: Security forces and law enforcement agencies have killed 145 terrorists in intelligence-based operations across Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province over the past 40 hours, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti said on Saturday, asserting that the security situation has now stabilised.
Speaking at a special press briefing in Quetta, Bugti said coordinated actions were carried out in multiple districts after authorities received advance information about planned attacks, allowing forces to disrupt militant networks and prevent large-scale violence
Bugti said provincial and federal institutions acted under a unified strategy to dismantle what he described as organised militant infrastructure operating in Balochistan.
“We have the bodies of 145 terrorists,” he said, adding that the operations focused on eliminating elements attempting to spread instability in the province. He maintained that the actions were precise and intelligence-driven.
According to the chief minister, security forces acted swiftly and professionally, restoring law and order across affected areas and neutralising threats before they could materialise
Meanwhile, Bugti said the province remained calm following the operations, crediting timely intervention for averting potential attacks on civilians and public infrastructure.
He said authorities had received credible intelligence regarding possible militant activities, prompting preemptive measures that limited casualties and prevented disruption.
“Peace has been restored in Balochistan,” Bugti said, warning that hostile elements would not be allowed to endanger lives or property
Addressing concerns about the nature of the operations, Bugti rejected claims that the actions targeted any specific ethnic group or community.
“This is not a war against any nationality. It is a war against terrorism,” he said, adding that militancy had no religion, ethnicity or regional identity.
He said the state was pursuing militants without discrimination and remained committed to protecting all citizens.
The chief minister also accused India of fuelling militancy in the province, alleging that external forces were encouraging and exploiting Baloch youth to destabilise the region.
He said such efforts aimed to mislead young people into acting against the state but insisted that these attempts had been exposed and would continue to fail.
Bugti said state institutions had the capacity to counter what he described as foreign-backed conspiracies.
Concluding the briefing, Bugti reiterated the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, saying security forces, police and intelligence agencies were working in close coordination to ensure lasting peace.
He emphasised that public trust and cooperation remained the government’s strongest asset and said unity between the state and citizens was key to defeating militancy in Balochistan.
