Islamabad: Opposition alliance has expressed its willingness to enter talks with the government, signalling a potential step toward addressing the country’s ongoing political and economic crises. The announcement followed a meeting chaired by party leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

Call for a new national consensus

During the meeting, party leaders discussed the deepening political and economic challenges facing the country. The party emphasised the urgent need for a new national consensus to guide the nation out of its current difficulties. According to the statement, all political stakeholders must work together through dialogue to achieve stability and national progress.

Recognition of opposition efforts

The statement praised a recent two-day opposition conference, calling it a successful platform for political consultation on the nation’s pressing issues. Participants agreed that economic improvement is impossible without political stability and stressed that negotiations in the national interest are essential.

Negotiations to ease tensions

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz clarified that the talks aim to reduce political tensions, safeguard democratic values and address the economic hardships facing citizens. The party stressed that the new national consensus must be inclusive, securing agreement from all major political forces.

Planned protests and leadership role

The statement also announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz will observe February 8 as a “Black Day” globally, with protests in various countries to voice public dissatisfaction over the current situation. Furthermore, the party pledged to take responsibility for obtaining signatures from the founder of PTI on the new consensus, ensuring broad political support. The leadership said the proposed national pact will strengthen political institutions and reinforce democratic processes, ultimately guiding the country toward stability and collective progress.
