The Karachi Traffic police has launched a mobile app called “Tracks Citizen,” to facilitate the issuance of e-challans for traffic violations in Karachi, the private media outlet reported on Wednesday.
The Karachiites can check all the details related to their vehicles and traffic violations.
The app can be downloaded for any smartphone, including iPhones and Android mobiles.
Once someone logs in to the app, all the registered vehicles on that person’s name will appear on the app automatically.
The app have several functions, including a feature for sending instant details regarding the violation of traffic rules.
The information will be received in two parts: one as an alert and the other for E-challans.
The newly introduced app for traffic violations issued total fines worth Rs 12.5 million and almost 2662 tickets within just six hours of its launch today.
As per the updated data, the Karachi Traffic Police has issued almost 2662 e-challans through the app.
The report of violations comprises 419 cases of overspeeding, 3 lane violations, 4 stop line violations, 1535 for not wearing seatbelts, 166 for signal jumping, 507 for helmet violations, 7 for tinted windows, 5 for unauthorised parking, 5 for parking in restricted zones, 3 for wrong side driving, and 32 for using a phone while driving.
DIG Traffic Syed Pir Muhammad Shah praised the new E-challan system as a huge step toward solidifying traffic rules and improving road safety all over Karachi.
