Web Desk: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory warning of widespread rain and thunderstorms across several parts of the country between July 6 and July 10, while authorities said no major river flooding is expected despite forecasts of increased water flows.

The advisory forecasts rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Punjab. Officials said the weather system is expected to intensify from July 7, bringing heavier rainfall to northern areas, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Balochistan.

The NDMA said the anticipated rainfall could cause a moderate rise in water levels in the Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej rivers.

However, the authority said there is currently no threat of large-scale river flooding and urged the public to stay informed as weather conditions evolve.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said cooler winds and increased cloud cover have eased hot and humid conditions in Lahore.

Winds were blowing at around 13 km per hour, while humidity stood at 69%, creating favorable conditions for rainfall later in the day, according to meteorological officials.

Forecasters said most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would continue to experience hot weather. However, Malam Jabba, Swat, Saidu Sharif, Dir, Hazara and parts of the Malakand division are likely to receive rain accompanied by gusty winds.

In contrast, southern districts of the province are expected to remain hotter over the coming days.

Meanwhile, much of Balochistan continues to endure intense heat and dry conditions.

Meteorological officials said Sibi recorded the country’s highest temperature at 49 degrees Celsius, followed by Turbat at 47 degrees. Temperatures reached 46 degrees in Nok Kundi, 40 degrees in Chaman, 38 degrees in Quetta, 37 degrees in Zhob and 34 degrees in Kalat, while Ziarat recorded a comparatively cooler 30 degrees Celsius.

Along the coast, Gwadar registered 24 degrees Celsius, while Jiwani recorded 35 degrees.

Authorities have advised residents in heat-affected areas to take necessary precautions as the country experiences contrasting weather patterns, with torrential rain forecast in the north and extreme temperatures persisting across parts of the southwest.
