Web Desk: Pakistan welcomed what it described as positive momentum in bilateral relations with Bangladesh on Friday, as Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said both countries aimed to deepen engagement, mutual trust and constructive cooperation through institutional exchanges and governance collaboration.

Tarar made the remarks during a meeting with a visiting delegation of senior Bangladeshi civil service officers in Islamabad, according to an official statement.

During the meeting, both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, including governance systems, administrative reforms and measures to strengthen institutional capacity.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and Federal Secretary for Information Ashfaq Ahmad Khokhar also attended the meeting, where Tarar briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s ongoing reform initiatives and key government policies.

Meanwhile, the minister described the executive development programme between the civil services of Pakistan and Bangladesh as a significant milestone in bilateral engagement in recent decades.

Tarar said Pakistan and Bangladesh shared historical connections as well as a common administrative and governance legacy, adding that Islamabad attached special importance to institutional cooperation and the exchange of experiences with friendly countries.

Furthermore, he stressed the need to expand collaboration between training and capacity-building institutions in both countries, particularly through faculty exchanges, joint research and the development of training modules.

The information minister also praised Pakistan’s Civil Services Academy for successfully organising the programme under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative, calling it an important platform for professional engagement.

In response, the Bangladeshi delegation expressed interest in Pakistan’s administrative framework and reform efforts across various sectors. The visiting officials described the meeting as positive and constructive, particularly in promoting bilateral ties and professional knowledge-sharing.

The meeting comes amid gradual diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Bangladesh, as both countries seek to expand cooperation through institutional and people-to-people exchanges.
