Veteran Pakistani actress Saba Hameed has finally spoken out regarding the long-running legal dispute between her daughter Meesha Shafi and singer Ali Zafar.
The controversy dates back to April 2018, when Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of harassment, sparking one of Pakistan’s most high-profile entertainment industry disputes. Ali Zafar and his family strongly denied the allegations, calling them an attempt to defame him.
It is worth noting that Meesha Shafi and Ali Zafar were once close friends since their college days and even worked together on the song “Chal Dil Mere.” However, the allegations led to a prolonged legal battle that has now stretched over eight years and is still ongoing in court.
Currently, Saba Hameed is appearing in court on behalf of her daughter, as Meesha Shafi is residing in Canada. She has been actively following the case and representing her daughter in legal proceedings.
Speaking briefly to the media outside the court, Saba Hameed said she could not comment in detail since the matter is sub judice. However, she added:
“You all know what has been happening over the past eight years. We have not backed down and will continue to pursue the case.”
The case remains widely discussed on social media, with users continuing to debate both sides. Reports suggest that Ali Zafar had filed a defamation case against Meesha Shafi, which is still being legally pursued.
