Maulana Fazlur Rehman has come under intense criticism for allegedly disrespecting martyrs, with social media users sharply criticizing him and raising a barrage of questions.
Social media users claimed that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s brother, Zia ur Rehman, was a Grade-17 employee at PTCL. They alleged that Maulana used his influence to have him appointed as an Assistant Commissioner while he was still serving as a PTCL engineer, and that he was later promoted to Deputy Commissioner, describing it as an unusual case.
According to the claims, he did not take any competitive examination, either provincial or federal, yet was appointed Assistant Commissioner. They further alleged that he was later transferred from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Khushab.
Social media users further claimed that although he belonged to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PMS, he was appointed Deputy Commissioner of Karachi Central by the Sindh government on July 23, 2020. They alleged that a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PMS officer could not ordinarily be posted in Sindh and claimed that the appointment came shortly after a meeting between Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Asif Ali Zardari/Bilawal Bhutto in Karachi on July 10, 2020.
Users said that while Maulana speaks about Islam, he should also examine his own conduct. They argued that he should answer questions regarding his brother, son, and father-in-law before criticizing others.
Continuing their criticism, some social media users said that Maulana should answer questions about his brother before pointing fingers at others and should “look into his own conduct first.” They further alleged that he secured the appointment of his father-in-law as governor despite corruption allegations against him, had his son appointed as a federal minister, and now criticizes others because he is no longer part of the government.
