WEBDESK: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned well-known fashion designer Maria B for an inquiry.
According to reports, the agency has sent a summons to Maria B for 26 August. The inquiry began after a complaint was filed by transgender person Naeem Butt, also known as Seema Butt.
The complainant alleged that Maria B spread propaganda against the transgender community on social media. The complaint further stated that her remarks caused distress within the community.
The NCCIA has started its investigation and called Maria B to appear before the agency.
The matter arose after Maria B recently shared a video statement online. In it, she claimed that an “immoral party” involving members of the transgender community had taken place in Lahore. She also included a video clip and urged the Punjab government to take action.
Officials said the inquiry is ongoing, and further steps will depend on Maria B’s response when she appears before the agency on 26 August.
