PSL returns to peshawar

Peshawar (CM Office KPK): A high-level meeting was held at Peshawar Corps Headquarters to review the overall security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was attended by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, the National Security Advisor, Corps Commander Peshawar, along with senior civil and military officials.

During the meeting, tributes were paid to civilians and security personnel who lost their lives in terrorist incidents. It was also decided that Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches will be held in Peshawar this year.

The meeting further resolved that provincial governance in Malakand Division will be immediately implemented under the provincial police and other relevant authorities. This successful model will later be gradually extended to Khyber, Orakzai, and Kurram districts.

A special sub-committee was formed under the Chief Minister’s leadership to oversee development projects and military operations in these districts. This committee, which will hold monthly meetings, will include elected public representatives, the Corps Commander Peshawar, Chief Secretary, IG Police, provincial officials, and representatives from federal institutions.

The committee will monitor governance and development projects while also creating sustainable income opportunities for local residents and implementing effective measures to address the problems of displaced persons.

The meeting emphasized ensuring full coordination and a unified approach between the federal government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to tackle critical issues such as terrorism. Efforts will be made to prevent extremist thinking among youth and promote positive outlooks by creating sustainable employment opportunities. Strict actions will continue against illegal SIM cards, explosives, and extortion, along with the gradual profiling of non-custom-paid vehicles.
