Kuwait beat India by 27 runs in the Pool C contest. This was one of the most unexpected upsets of the Hong Kong Sixes 2025, shocking fans. The Indian team led by Dinesh Karthik that had previously edged Pakistan in a match marred by heavy rain. The team failed to deliver the same result against a spirited Kuwait team in the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok.
Batting first, Kuwait scored 106/5 in 6 overs with a terrific conclusion by Yasin Patel who hit 5 sixes in a row on the last over.
His spectacular knock has totally turned the tide of the match and Kuwait was in the 100-run mark.
Especially when at the start of the game they were finding it hard to get to 90.
Patel’s performance helped him win Man of the match award.
India lost its batting battalion at 107. Robin Uthappa bowed out a golden duck, and captain Dinesh Karthik and Stuart Binny did not deliver as well.
India was bowled out in 5.4 overs at 79 despite a late effort by Abhimanyu Mithun who hit 26 out of the 9 balls.
Yasin Patel also impressed with the ball, getting 3 wickets at 23 runs. Destroying the middle order of India and assuring the historic victory to Kuwait. The last over by Adnan Idrees was dramatic as Mithun scored three sixes but he was eventually caught out by Meet Bhavsar to end Indian chase.
This win is the first time that Kuwait ever beat India in the Hong Kong Sixes.
