Bannu: Militants martyred a police officer who had been kidnapped two days earlier in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed on Tuesday, marking yet another attack on security forces in the restive region.

According to police, Station House Officer (SHO) Abid was released earlier in the day after tribal elders brokered a deal for his recovery. The officer had been abducted by militants during a recent operation in the area.

Body Found Near Daud Shah Bridge

Authorities said that before Abid could reach home, he was shot dead by the captors. His body was later found near Nala Bridge in Daud Shah. Police teams rushed to the scene and shifted the remains to a local hospital for postmortem examination.

Rising Attacks on Security Personnel

The incident underscores the growing threat to law enforcement officers in Pakistan’s northwest, where militant attacks have surged in recent months. Security forces have launched search operations in the surrounding areas to track down those responsible for the killing.

Officials said investigations are underway and vowed that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
