Peshawar: In a rare show of unity, all major political parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa came together on Wednesday for a successful peace jirga, agreeing on a joint strategy to combat terrorism in the province. The meeting, attended by representatives of both the government and opposition, emphasised the need for coordinated efforts to restore lasting peace.
Officials said the jirga participants strongly condemned recent terrorist incidents and vowed to utilize every available legal and administrative resource to eliminate militancy.
Non-Political Approach to Security Issues
Participants of the peace jirga stressed that security matters should remain above political divisions. They agreed that a non-partisan and collective approach was essential to safeguard the province’s stability and the lives of its citizens.
“The provincial government will fully implement the jirga’s recommendations,” said Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “We are committed to translating this consensus into effective action on the ground.”
Federal Cooperation on Provincial Issues
The chief minister also noted that political leaders currently serving in the federal government have assured full cooperation in addressing the province’s longstanding issues. He said the joint efforts of federal and provincial representatives would strengthen governance and help achieve peace and development across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Path Toward Sustainable Peace
Analysts say the jirga marks a significant step toward rebuilding trust among political actors in a region long plagued by violence. The collective declaration against terrorism signals a renewed resolve to prioritize security, social stability, and national unity.
