Jordan’s King Abdullah will visit Pakistan today as he is on a two-day state visit to strengthen strategic ties between the two countries, the Pakistani foreign ministry announced.
Pakistan and Jordan have strong ties as both countries were part of discussions for US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza alongside with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Indonesia, Turkiye, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the Foreign Office, King Abdullah will meet President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minsiter Shehbaz Sharif to hold a discussion to make the relationship stronger between the two brotherly countries.
“It will serve to further strengthen the strategic direction of Pakistan–Jordan relations and place them on a higher trajectory, encompassing a comprehensive and broad-based partnership in the political, economic, and cultural spheres,” it said.
Jordan was the fifth country who recognize Pakistan as a state, and both nations formed diplomatic ties in August 1948.
According to the Pakistani embassy in Amman, the trade between Pakistan and Jordan was at $46.58 during 2023. However, 16000 Pakistanis are currently living in Jordan.
Pakistan’s foreign office also confirmed that the President’s House in Islamabad will hold a ceremony to give the highest civilian award to Jordan’s King during his visit to Pakistan.
“The visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein will further consolidate the longstanding Pakistan–Jordan relationship and contribute to expanding the scope and spectrum of bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries,” it added.

US President Donald Trump welcomed Syrian President Ahmad Al Sharaa to the White House, marking the first visit by a Syrian leader since 1946.
Experts said the meeting opened a new chapter in US-Syria relations as both leaders discussed working together for regional peace and counterterrorism.
The meeting began with a surprising gesture when President Trump personally gifted his guest a bottle of his own Trump brand fragrance.
“This is men’s fragrance,” Trump said, as he sprayed $249/bottle ‘Trump Cologne’ on President Al Sharaa and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani. Trump added, “It’s the best fragrance,” explaining that one bottle was “for Al Sharaa and one for his wife.”
During a light moment that made everyone laugh, President Trump jokingly asked, “How many wives? One?” to which President Sharaa replied yes.
Trump then added with a smile, “With you guys, I never know!” Sharaa playfully asked the same question back, and Trump responded, “Right now, one.”
