Web Desk: United States President Donald Trump announced that Israel has accepted an initial withdrawal line in negotiations with Hamas, describing it as a step towards ending what he called a “3,000-year catastrophe.”
In a message shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump explained that the proposed withdrawal line had already been shown to Hamas. He added that once the group gives its confirmation, a ceasefire will “immediately” take effect. The President further noted that this stage of the agreement would also begin a process of exchanging hostages and prisoners, with more withdrawals expected in later phases.
“When Hamas confirms, the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner Exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE,” Trump said in his post.
The President urged people to “stay tuned,” suggesting that additional announcements could soon follow as the discussions continue. His remarks are being seen as one of the clearest signs so far that talks may be edging closer to a breakthrough, with Washington playing a central role in efforts to secure a deal.
