Web Desk: Rainfall in Islamabad and various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa brought relief from dry weather conditions. Rain was reported in areas including Parts of Twin cities and Peshawar Airport, Saddar, Cantt, University Town, and Hayatabad. Showers were also recorded in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, and other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Meteorological Department has forecast that rain will continue over the next 24 hours.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, rain and snowfall were reported in several areas. Light snowfall occurred on the mountains of Upper Neelum Valley, adding to the winter chill in the region.
First winter rain in Baluchistan, power supply suspended.
The first spell of winter rain has begun in northern upper Baluchistan, bringing a noticeable change in the region’s weather.
According to reports in Chaman city, Qila Abdullah, and Toba Achakzai, rainfall accompanied by strong winds has caused damage in several low-lying and open areas. Reports indicate that electricity poles and mud walls collapsed at various locations, while trees were uprooted due to the strong gusts, causing difficulties for the local population.
Islamabad welcomes first season’s rainfall
Meanwhile Pakistan’s capital Islamabad experienced its first winter rainfall on Saturday, marking a seasonal shift as showers swept across Islamabad and surrounding areas, officials and residents said.
The rain ended a prolonged dry spell and signaled the arrival of winter weather, with temperatures dipping noticeably after the showers. Residents welcomed the rainfall, which brought cleaner air and a chill to the city’s evenings.
Fog disrupts Lahore flights
Dense fog in Lahore partially disrupted flight operations on Saturday, causing delays to several international departures. Airport sources said multiple outbound flights were affected, including services from Lahore to Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Abu Dhabi, as low visibility conditions persisted.
Vehicles barred to use motorways
Thick fog and cloudy weather engulfed many parts of Punjab and reduced visibility to a very poor level for motorists, forcing the police to shut motorways at several locations. Due to fog, Motorway M2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, M3 from Lahore to Samundri, while Sialkot Motorway M11 was also closed, in addition to Motorway M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad.
