U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that Iran is expected to accept a deal to end the war today.

Speaking to journalists, Marco Rubio said that there could be an announcement “today, tomorrow, or in the next few days.”

The U.S. Secretary of State also said he is hopeful for positive news regarding the Iran conflict.

He further stated that there has been some progress in negotiations with Iran.

The statement comes after Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent visit to Iran and his high-level talks with Iranian leadership. Marco Rubio’s statement indicates a big development in the ongoing negotiation between US and Iran.

Earlier Marco Robio had said he remained in continuous contact with Pakistan’s top leadership, including Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and that the US was working together with Pakistan on Iran-related diplomatic efforts.

The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio further said that the United States wants to reach an agreement with Iran. He added that if Iran agrees to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, it would be a positive development. However, if Iran refuses, the US has a “Plan B.” He stated that closing the Strait of Hormuz or imposing tolls on it is not the right approach.

He reiterated that Pakistan has played an important and fundamental role in the negotiations between Iran and the United States. Pakistan has provided significant assistance in this process, and high-level contacts are ongoing.
