Web Desk: International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva praised Pakistan’s reform efforts and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, saying the government has shown seriousness in implementing difficult economic measures under the IMF-supported programme.
Speaking on Pakistan’s engagement with the Fund, Georgieva said the government has embraced reforms and that early results are already visible.
IMF head Georgieva said Pakistan’s budget discipline has begun to generate resources that can be redirected toward improving people’s lives. She noted that the impact of these measures reflects the government’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.
She added that she looks forward to the continued implementation of Pakistan’s IMF programme, calling the engagement constructive and ongoing.
Georgieva expressed strong respect for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, describing him as serious and dependable in carrying out commitments.
She said when the prime minister gives his word, the agreed actions are delivered. Georgieva added that repeated meetings with Pakistani officials have focused on assessing progress and identifying areas where further work remains.
Georgieva also praised the prime minister and his cabinet for pursuing difficult reforms aimed at long-term economic improvement.
She said the seriousness shown by Pakistan’s leadership strengthens confidence in the reform process and supports the country’s path toward economic stability.
