Islamabad: Pakistan will observe Earth Hour on March 28 (tomorrow) across the country.

The theme for Earth Hour 2026 is “Give an Hour for the Earth.” The Prime Minister has directed that unnecessary lights be switched off nationwide from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

He also appealed to the public to actively participate in saving electricity and protecting the environment.

All public and private institutions have been instructed to fully take part in the campaign. The initiative aims to promote energy conservation and raise awareness about environmental protection among citizens.

Earth Hour is a global movement started by World Wide Fund for Nature in 2007. It started in Sydney, where millions of people switched off their lights for one hour to raise global awareness about climate change.

Earth Hour has grown into one of the world’s largest environmental drives, observed in over 190 countries. Iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Burj Khalifa, and Big Ben also go dark during the hour as a symbolic gesture.
