suspend gas supply

Web Desk: Sui Southern Gas Company will suspend gas supply to industries and the compressed natural gas sector for 48 hours starting Jan. 24, as authorities move to manage rising winter demand and improve pressure for household consumers.

The company announced the decision through its spokesperson, citing the need to prioritise domestic and commercial users during peak consumption.

According to the spokesperson, gas supply to industries, captive power plants and CNG stations will remain suspended from 8 a.m. on Saturday until 8 a.m. on Monday

The shutdown applies across the Sui Southern network and will temporarily halt operations in affected sectors.

The spokesperson said the decision aims to ensure better gas pressure for domestic and commercial consumers during winter.

Household and commercial users already face nightly gas suspensions from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Authorities said restricting industrial supply is necessary to stabilize the system during high-demand periods.

Sui Southern has imposed similar restrictions in recent days, cutting gas supply to the industrial and CNG sectors to maintain domestic supply.

Officials said demand typically spikes during winter, forcing authorities to balance limited gas resources across consumer categories.
