Security forces kill 31 Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists in KP operations

WEBDESK: Pakistani security forces killed 31 militants in two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 13 and 14 September, the military’s media wing (ISPR) said on Monday.

The first operation took place in Lakki Marwat after reports of militant presence in the area. Security forces targeted their hideout and, after heavy exchange of fire, 14 fighters were killed.

The second operation was carried out in Bannu, where troops engaged more militants in a gun battle. Seventeen were killed during the clash.

According to ISPR, clearance operations are continuing to eliminate any remaining fighters in the region. The statement added that the armed forces are committed to eradicating terrorism from the country and will not allow any group working on foreign backing to operate.

The fresh operations follow earlier actions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last week, where 35 militants were killed between 10 and 13 September.
