Firing at Mufti Kifayatullah’s house leaves daughter and son dead, Mufti and wife injured

WEBDESK: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader and district chief Mufti Kifayatullah was injured along with his wife in a firing incident in Batkhela, Malakand, on Saturday. His daughter and son lost their lives in the attack.

According to Malakand Levies, the firing took place inside Mufti Kifayatullah’s home and was carried out by his own son, who fled the scene after the incident. The bodies and injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital Batkhela.

Hospital officials confirmed that Mufti Kifayatullah’s condition is out of danger. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to arrest the suspect, but no arrest has been made so far.

This is not the first time Mufti Kifayatullah has come under attack. In November 2019, he was also targeted in an assassination attempt in which he was injured.
