India rattled by Field Marshal Asim Munir’s bold warnings in US

Web desk: India is showing signs of frustration after recent statements by Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Speaking in the United States, he gave a strong warning that if Pakistan faced an existential threat from India. It would respond with full force, even with nuclear weapons.

He also warned that Pakistan would destroy any dams or structures India might build on the Indus water channels if it reduced water flow to Pakistan.

These comments came after India put the Indus Waters Treaty on hold following the Pahalgam false flag.

Field Marshal Asim Munir said the Indus River is not India’s personal property. And reminded that Pakistan has plenty of missiles to protect its rights.

This direct and confident tone has disturbed India, which had hoped to gain the upper hand through water control.

Field Marshal Asim Munir also questioned why India is hiding the real losses from the recent four-day conflict. He said Pakistan would reveal its own losses if India did the same.

India has been tight-lipped about the full extent of its setbacks in the recent four-day clash with Pakistan.

While Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan admitted that one Indian aircraft was lost. He avoided giving details on other losses. His focus, he said, should be on learning from the incident rather than sharing figures.

This lack of transparency has led to speculation about the true scale of the damage. Analysts say India’s vague statements and refusal to share complete figures suggest it is trying to hide the failures in its diplomacy and foreign policy.

Pakistan’s successful diplomacy

Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal General Asim Munir, has travelled to the United States for the second time in less than two months, Bloomberg reported.

His latest visit is seen as a sign of strengthening ties and closer cooperation between Islamabad and Washington.

According to ISPR, Field Marshal Asim Munir met US Joint Chiefs of Staff General John Dan Kain, holding detailed discussions on matters of mutual professional interest.

He also invited General Kain to visit Pakistan, reflecting the desire to deepen military-to-military cooperation.

During the trip, Field Marshal Asim Munir attended a key ceremony where the commander of US Central Command, General Michael E Kurilla, formally handed over charge to Admiral Brad Cooper following his retirement.

In his remarks, Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed confidence in continuing Pakistan-US collaboration to address shared security challenges. Emphasising that such defence cooperation was essential for the region’s peace and stability.

Bloomberg recalled that not long ago, less than two months earlier, US President Donald Trump had hosted Field Marshal Asim Munir for a private luncheon at the White House.

Analysts point out that his current visit sends out a strong message of renewed warmth and trust between the two nations and could forge a new chapter in bilateral ties.

Previously, Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was referred to by the New York Times as a hallmark triumph in the life of the Pakistani military. Crediting it with serving to enhance the standing of the Army and uplifting the morale of the country.

According to the report, Field Marshal Asim Munir has adopted a more visible and assertive leadership style, abandoning his otherwise reserved posture, amidst rising tensions with India.

His firm and effective handling of Indian provocations has earned him admiration across the country. With many now seeing him as a symbol of national strength.

The events of this time brought a unique sense of solidarity and patriotism driven by the collective sense of achievement.

There have been rallies and protests in support of the military force by political factions and individual citizens alike. Praising what they see as determination and resolve in the face of hardship.

The fact that Field Marshal Asim Munir played a crucial role in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos demonstrates not only his skill as an operational commander. But also his skill in harmonising military operations with national interests on the macro level.

He proved to be a unique combination of tactical precision and strategic foresight. By arranging such a quick, coordinated move that successfully defused the external invaders.

Pakistan is also playing a continuing role in the fight against terrorism. US Central Command Chief General Michael Kurilla has recently hailed Islamabad as a “phenomenal partner.” Highlighting its significance to the joint fight against common enemies like ISIS-K.
