Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to eradicate terrorism and enhance security cooperation along their shared border.

A telephonic conversation between Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, the Iranian embassy said.

According to IRNA, the Iranian army chief emphasized Tehran’s readiness to work closely with Islamabad to combat terrorism and secure the common border.

He also expressed solidarity with Pakistan’s flood-affected population, stating that Iran would “proudly provide any assistance within its capacity to our dear brothers in Pakistan.”

The Iranian commander appreciated Pakistan’s support during the recent 12-day conflict with Israel and highlighted ongoing cooperation between the two nations on multiple levels.

Earlier, Iran offered support to Pakistan after devastating monsoon floods claimed around 800 lives and left thousands homeless across the country.

Iran’s Interior Minister, Brigadier General Eskandar Momeni, spoke by phone with Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, on Monday. He expressed sorrow over the widespread destruction caused by heavy rains and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Calling Pakistan a “brotherly neighbour,” Momeni said Iran stands in full solidarity with the people of Pakistan. “It is heartbreaking to see so much destruction and loss of lives. Iran is ready to provide every possible form of assistance,” he said.

Naqvi thanked his Iranian counterpart for the gesture of support. He praised Iran’s solidarity and said both countries share their joys and sorrows. He also underlined that Pakistan is facing unprecedented challenges from climate change, which has triggered extreme weather never seen before.
