Web Desk: X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has suspended an account operating under the name “Bahot Baloch” following repeated posts that circulated unverified and false allegations against Pakistan’s security forces, according to digital fact-checking groups and platform observers.

The account, which had gained traction for posting dramatic claims related to security operations in Balochistan, was taken down after multiple posts were flagged as misinformation and, in some cases, outright fabrications.

Over recent months, the Bahot Baloch account published a series of claims accusing Pakistan’s military and security agencies of attacks, covert operations, and alleged human rights abuses. Several of those claims went viral before independent verification.

However, fact-checking platforms and open-source investigators later disputed the posts, stating that the alleged incidents either did not occur or were misrepresented using unrelated images and videos.

In one instance, the account claimed a major security incident in Balochistan that was later shown to be false, with no confirmation from local authorities, independent journalists, or emergency services. Fact-checkers said the post relied on recycled visuals from older, unrelated events.

Despite repeated challenges to its credibility, the account continued to post similar content, often framing allegations as breaking news. Analysts tracking online disinformation said the posts followed a familiar pattern: sensational claims, minimal sourcing, and rapid amplification by aligned networks.

Eventually, X suspended the account, citing violations of its policies on misinformation and deceptive behavior, according to users who attempted to access the profile after it went offline.

Beyond specific false claims, analysts noted that the account consistently promoted a hostile narrative against Pakistan’s security agencies, frequently portraying them as aggressors without corroborating evidence.

Several posts accused the military of staging incidents or concealing operations, claims that experts say require a high standard of proof that was not met. Observers said the tone and frequency of such posts contributed to concerns that the account was engaged in coordinated disinformation rather than independent reporting.

The suspension comes amid broader scrutiny of social media platforms for hosting unverified content during periods of political and security tension. Researchers warn that anonymous or pseudonymous accounts can rapidly shape public perception before facts are established.

Fact-checking groups urged users to rely on multiple independent sources, particularly when claims involve security operations or allegations of state violence.

X has not issued a public statement specifically addressing the Bahot Baloch account. However, the platform has said it removes accounts that repeatedly share misleading information likely to cause harm.
