Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty said on Sunday that Egypt hopes Pakistan will share its expertise and resources to help rebuild Gaza. He made these remarks during a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad.
Abdelatty said Egypt looks forward to Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming international conference on Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction.
Ishaq Dar said both countries reviewed regional developments, with a special focus on the situation in Gaza.
Pakistan, Egypt to resume political consultations after 16 years
Dar noted that Pakistan and Egypt have not held Joint Ministerial Commission meetings or bilateral political consultations since 2010. Both sides have now agreed to hold the next round of political consultations in the first quarter of 2026.
Pakistan–Egypt Business Forum to launch in 2026
Dar announced that both countries will set up a Pakistan–Egypt Business Forum, co-chaired by their foreign ministers. The first meeting will be held in Cairo in the second quarter of 2026 to boost trade, investment, and economic ties.
500 firms to be included in business collaboration; visa facilitation planned
Dar said Pakistan will prepare a list of 250 key business houses selected through the FPCCI and chambers to enhance commercial cooperation with Egypt. Another 250 companies will be added after six months, bringing the total to 500. Egypt will also prepare a similar list. Both countries have agreed to improve visa facilitation for businesspeople.
Egypt doubles Al-Azhar scholarships for Pakistan
Dar welcomed Egypt’s decision to double scholarships for Pakistani students at Al-Azhar University, focusing on religious education aimed at countering extremism and terrorism.
“These scholars will be trained according to the Quran and Sunnah to help eliminate terrorism in Pakistan,” he said.
Egypt offers counter-terrorism support
The Egyptian foreign minister expressed condolences over recent terrorist attacks in Islamabad and Peshawar and reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Pakistan. He said Egypt was ready to share its “holistic approach” to combating terrorism, which includes security measures, socioeconomic steps, and countering extremist ideologies through institutions like Al-Azhar University and Dar Al-Ifta.
