Director General ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry briefed senior journalists on 25 November on Pakistan’s security landscape, recent counterterrorism trends, the challenges of border management and the changing situation in the region. During the session, he discussed fresh CT figures, Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan, India’s military rhetoric and the growing wave of online propaganda targeting state institutions.
He noted a sharp rise in intelligence‑based operations over the past year. Since 4 November 2025, security forces have carried out 4,910 IBOs, neutralising 206 militants. A total of 67,023 operations have been conducted countrywide this year, with 12,857 in KP and 53,309 in Balochistan. Across Pakistan, 1,873 militants were eliminated, including 136 Afghan nationals.
Speaking about border challenges, he said misleading narratives undermine the work of security forces, whereas the terrain itself makes surveillance difficult. The KP stretch of the Pakistan‑Afghanistan border alone is 1,229 kilometres long, dotted with 20 crossing points and vast gaps between posts. He stressed that fencing can only work effectively when backed by observation and fire support, which requires significant resources.
He stated that border management becomes harder when the neighbouring side lacks governance. Adding that Afghan Taliban elements continue to facilitate militants crossing into Pakistan. He said Pakistan has shared concrete proof of the presence and support networks of groups like al‑Qaeda and Daesh along the border.
On India, the DG ISPR criticised the aggressive tone of its military leadership, noting that exaggerated claims only serve to distract Indian citizens. He cautioned that any country supplying weapons to the Taliban risks strengthening regional militant networks.
Addressing social media propaganda, he said many accounts pushing hostile narratives operate from abroad. On political consensus, he reiterated that all parties agree the National Action Plan remains the only viable framework.
He concluded by saying Pakistan rejects any distinction among militants, stating that “the only good terrorist is the one who has been eliminated.”
