Islamabad: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif in a recent tweet has presented a detailed account of Islamabad’s diplomatic and security engagement with Kabul since Taliban took control in 2021. He said that despite repeated high‑level visits, coordination meetings and border engagements, Islamabad has seen no meaningful cooperation from Afghanistan.
During this period a total of 3,844 people were killed (including civilians, military and law‑enforcement personnel) and 10,347 terrorism‑related incidents happened inside Pakistan.
Khawaja Asif accuses Afghanistan of becoming “a proxy of India,” alleging that Indian influence in Kabul put together with the Afghan Taliban and Tehrik‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has enabled a campaign of terrorism directed at Pakistan.
He asserted that Afghans living on Pakistani soil must be repatriated to their homeland. “Our land and resources belong to 250 million Pakistanis. The time has come to end five decades of forced hospitality,” he said.
Khawaja Asif further emphasized self-respecting nations do not thrive on foreign land and resources. He further added, “There will no longer be protest notes or appeals for peace; no delegations will go to Kabul. Wherever the source of terrorism lies, it will have to pay a heavy price.”
