Web desk: The CM Punjab E-Taxi scheme 2025 is the largest green transport project in Pakistan.

This initiative is being headed by the Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz and will add 1,100 electric taxis on interest-free instalments in August 2025. Its objectives include modernising the transport in Punjab, providing job opportunities, and decreasing pollution in major cities.

The scheme will roll out 1,100 electric taxis on easy, interest-free instalments, with the official launch set for August 2025. Applications will be submitted and processed through an online portal made by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).

Is the CM Punjab E-Taxi scheme 2025 for women?

A unique feature of the project is the allocation of 30 electric taxis exclusively for women. This step is aimed at ensuring their safe participation in the transport sector.

To further ease the burden on drivers, the government will cover markup, token tax, and registration fees. It will leave drivers responsible only for the basic instalments.

How to apply for the CM Punjab E-Taxi scheme 2025 via online application

  • Collect your documents:
    • CNIC, driving licence, and proof that you live in Punjab.
  • If you are a fleet owner, also prepare company details along with SECP or NTN registration.
  • Make an account on the online portal and fill out the e-taxi application form.
  • Select whether you are applying as a single driver or as a fleet owner.
  • Pick your instalment plan and review the payment schedule.
  • Submit the form and wait while your details are checked for eligibility.
  • If you qualify, you will get an offer letter with information about vehicle delivery and driver training.

CM Punjab E-Taxi scheme 2025: stages

In the first stage of the scheme, 1,000 taxis will be given to fleet owners and 100 taxis to individual drivers. Out of these, 30 vehicles are reserved for women drivers. The taxis will include electric sedans and hatchbacks that can run up to 300 km on a single charge.

PITB Punjab: What documents do you need for a route Rickshaw / Taxi Cab permit  

The PITB is supporting the Punjab government’s Chief Minister’s E-Taxi Project by developing a digital platform for applications, with the scheme launching in August 2025. 

To apply for a contract carriage route permit, you will need the following:

  • Filled Application Form (available at the PTC office or on the PTC website)
  • Copy of the vehicle owner’s CNIC
  • Authority letter on Rs300/- E-Stamp paper (if the owner is not applying in person), attested by an oath commissioner or notary public
  • Copy of the authorised person’s CNIC (if applicable)
  • Copy of the registration book of the vehicle
  • Copy of a valid vehicle token tax
  • Copy of a valid vehicle fitness certificate
  • Original route permit or a police report (for renewals)
  • Route Permit NOC (if the rickshaw/taxi was purchased from another district and is applying for a new permit)
  • Affidavit on Rs300/- E-Stamp paper, attested by an oath commissioner or notary public

What is the eligibility criteria for CM Punjab E-Taxi scheme 2025

  • Must be a resident of Punjab, with a valid CNIC
  • The ages should be between 18 and 50 years
  • Must have a valid LTV/HTV driving license
  • Must not own a commercial vehicle already
  • The police record should be clean
  • Preferably unemployed or earning below the taxable income bracket

Set to launch in August 2025, the CM Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2025 aims to promote cleaner and safer transport in Punjab. Interested applicants should get their documents ready and keep an eye on the PITB portal for applications at  official application portal, transport.punjab.gov.pk or ptc.punjab.gov.pk.
