WEBDESK: A cloudburst struck Dalori Gadoon village in Swabi on Monday, submerging homes and triggering landslides in the mountainous area. At least 15 people are feared dead, officials said.
Swabi Deputy Commissioner Nasrullah Khan said 12 houses were completely submerged as the fast-flowing water swept through the village. Many families were stranded, and multiple casualties are reported.
Being a mountainous region, Dalori Gadoon also experienced landslides at several points. Roads were partially blocked, delaying relief efforts. A landslide in nearby Bada Gadoon buried several vehicles under rocks and mud.
Rescue teams from Haripur and Mardan have been called in to assist local authorities. Machinery, civil defence personnel, police, and volunteers are on site. Emergency measures, including medicines and relief supplies, have been prepared at nearby hospitals.
The deputy commissioner said the chief minister and chief secretary are personally monitoring the situation. He urged citizens to help the affected families voluntarily.
Officials warned nearby residents to remain cautious as further landslides and flash floods are possible. Rescue operations continue, and the death toll may rise.
