QUETTA: The provincial government has announced the establishment of Bank of Balochistan to provide businessmen, traders a provincial bank for their financial dealings.
During a high-level meeting on Tuesday headed by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, attended by provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary Babar Khan and banking sector experts analyzed initial report for Bank of Balochistan and stated that it is viable.
The chief minister directed the officials concerned to prepare a comprehensive and operational plan within one week. “The Bank of Balochistan will be a revolutionary step aimed at providing high-quality and accessible banking services to the business community, traders, industrialists, investors and common people,” Mr Bugti added.
He added that the initiative would not only boost economic activity but also generate employment opportunities for the youth. “The Bank of Balochistan will prove to be a milestone in stabilising the provincial economy and will accelerate development projects by utilising local resources,” the CM said.
In a separate development, earlier, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir vowed Pakistan Army’s support for the development in Balochistan during his Turbat visit.
During his interaction with the Chief Minister Balochistan and representatives of the civil administration in Turbat, he highlighted the need for good governance, infrastructure development and the importance of inclusive, people-centric progress.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan Army’s resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Balochistan in their pursuit of peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
The Army Chief emphasized the significance of joint civil-military efforts in addressing the challenges faced by the people of Balochistan and reaffirmed unwavering support for all initiatives aimed at improving the Southern Balochistan’s socio-economic development.
On the occasion, the Army Chief was given a comprehensive brief on the security dynamics including threat perspective and successful operations against Fitna al Hindustan, ongoing development projects, and efforts to enhance socio-economic conditions in southern Balochistan.
During his interaction with troops, the Army Chief appreciated their high morale, operational readiness and unflinching commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty. He commended their role in ensuring peace and stability in the region under challenging circumstances.
