The Government of Balochistan has issued an official notification announcing the creation of new districts, divisions, sub-divisions, and tehsils as part of a major administrative reorganisation.
According to the notification, Quetta District has been divided into two separate districts—Quetta East and Quetta West. The Kalat Division has also been abolished and replaced with two new divisions named Khuzdar and Lasbela.
The government has further divided Khuzdar District, creating Wadh as a new district, while Shaheed Sikandarabad District has been renamed Surab District.
Under the notification, Mastung District has been transferred from Kalat Division to Quetta Division, while Kachhi District has been moved from Nasirabad Division to Sibi Division. Ziarat and Harnai districts have also been placed under Loralai Division.
The notification also divides Dera Bugti District into North Dera Bugti and South Dera Bugti. In Sherani District, the district headquarters has been shifted from Asta Norgha to Mani Khwah.
In Quetta West, Burori and Panjpai have been designated as new sub-divisions, while Ormara and Jiwani in Gwadar have also been granted sub-division status.
Additionally, Barshore, Machh, Bala Nari, Yak Mach, Nag, Karkh, and Balinigor have been upgraded to tehsils. Zaidi in Khuzdar, Khanpur in Jaffarabad, and Jia Khan in Sohbatpur have also been declared new tehsils.
The notification further standardises the official English spellings of Sibi as Sivi and Makran as Makoran.
