After the national team’s worst-ever 194-run defeat in the Lord’s Test and the major and sudden decisions by the cricket board, there is deep silence and an atmosphere of extreme pressure at the Pakistan cricket team’s hotel in London.
According to highly credible sources, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam, who was dismissed for 8 and 6 runs in the Lord’s Test, is under considerable pressure following the team’s defeat and the sending back of the team’s head coach and seven players to Pakistan.
According to reports, the national team captain is suffering from a high fever.
When the team’s media manager, Naveed Akram Cheema, was contacted regarding his condition, he initially said that the report was correct and that captain Babar Azam had informed him about it. However, he said there was no need to panic or worry.
He also said that Babar Azam is fit and there is no cause for concern regarding the fever, adding that he will recover soon.
Why did Rizwan and Imam return while others stayed?
Apart from wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and opening batter Imam, the other players and the head coach released from the squad by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have remained in England.
After Pakistan suffered a 194-run defeat on the fourth day of the second Test against England, played as part of the ICC Test Championship at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, the PCB, on an emergency basis, removed head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul, along with seven cricketers, from the team. For the Birmingham Test, Ashley Nofke was appointed as bowling coach alongside white-ball team head coach Mike Hesson.
According to reports, Imam-ul-Haq, who suffered a calf injury during the Lord’s Test, has reached Allama Iqbal Airport in Lahore, while wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan has reached Islamabad Airport.
However, head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed, spinner Ali Usman, all-rounder Aamer Jamal, Salman Ali Agha, who led the team in the Leeds Test, and Khurram Shahzad have so far remained in England and will stay there for a few days.
