Web Desk: Claims circulating on social media that Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada was killed in Pakistani strikes are false, according to a report by Azaad Fact Check.

The fact-checking organization said posts shared on the social media platform X misled users by alleging that Akhundzada had been killed during recent Pakistani attacks. However, its investigation found no credible evidence supporting the claim.

Several social media accounts circulated messages asserting that Akhundzada, the supreme leader of the Afghan Taliban, had died in Pakistani strikes. The posts quickly gained traction and were widely reshared.

Azaad Fact Check said its review of the viral claims showed that the information was baseless and built on unverified and fabricated narratives.

“The claim has no confirmed basis,” the organization said, adding that the reports about Akhundzada’s death were entirely false.

According to the fact-checking group, Akhundzada is alive and in good health. Therefore, reports of his death circulating online are nothing more than rumors and misinformation.

The organisation emphasised that no reliable or official sources had confirmed any such incident.

Azaad Fact Check warned that misleading information can spread rapidly on social media platforms, particularly during periods of heightened regional tension. As a result, such claims risk creating confusion and misunderstanding among the public.

The report concluded that all viral claims regarding the death of Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada are unfounded and fabricated, reiterating that he remains alive.
