Pakistan’s Olympic Champion javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has opened up on this exit from the World Athletics Championships final in Tokyo.
The star javelin thrower was out of the medal race in the World Athletics Championships final yesterday.
Nadeem opened with a throw of 82.27 metres in his first attempt. His second attempt was a foul, but he recovered slightly with an 82.75-metre throw on his third. A foul on his fourth attempt, however, ended his hopes of securing a medal.
After three rounds, Nadeem was placed 10th, with only the top ten moving to the next stage.
After the loss, Arshad Nadeem took to X (formerly Twitter) and thanked the people of Pakistan saying “that I want to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support and love throughout the World Athletics Championships. Although I couldn’t achieve the result I had hoped for in the final, I am proud to have represented our nation on the biggest stage.”
“Your prayers, messages, and encouragement mean the world to me. I know I let you all down, but I promise to come back stronger and work even harder to make you proud” he added.
Speaking about his injury, the javelin star said that “To be honest, I’ve been dealing with an injury since July 4th, which affected my preparation and fitness level. Despite this challenge, I gave it my all, and I appreciate the experience. Thank you for believing in me and supporting me on this journey. I will keep pushing myself to achieve greatness, not just for myself, but for our nation.”
It is pertinent to mention here that the javelin thrower created history by winning Pakistan the first ever medal in the field of athletics in Olympics.
Arshad Nadeem, earlier took the step to withdraw his participation at the upcoming World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Event at Switzerland that was slated for July 15. He had sustained a minor calf muscle injury during the course of training back in Pakistan. The star Javelin thrower was undergoing an intensive rehabilitation program in London where his doctor performed the shin surgery.
