WEBDESK: Pakistan’s leading javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem bowed out of the medal race in the World Athletics Championships final in Tokyo.
Nadeem opened with a throw of 82.27 metres in his first attempt. His second attempt was a foul, but he recovered slightly with an 82.75-metre throw on his third. A foul on his fourth attempt, however, ended his hopes of securing a medal.
After three rounds, Nadeem was placed 10th, with only the top ten moving to the next stage.
Meanwhile, India’s Neeraj Chopra recorded 83.65 metres on his first throw, while compatriot Sachin Yadav produced an impressive 86.29 metres.
According to the start list, Nadeem was the third athlete to throw in the final, following Germany’s Julian Weber and Grenada’s Anderson Peters.
It is worth noting that Nadeem had qualified directly for the final after throwing 85.28 metres in the Group B qualifying round.
