ISLAMABAD: In a major development, a local court in Islamabad sent the alleged kidnapper of TikToker Samiya Hijab, a ‘friend’ of slain influencer Sana Yousuf on physical remand.
The accused of Samiya’s kidnapping, Hassan Zahid, was presented before the Islamabad court where the police urged the court to approve his physical remand for interrogation.
The court, while accepting the IO’s request, remanded Hassan Zahid in police custody on a five-day physical remand.
The renowned TikToker Samiya Hijab earlier claimed that she surviving a kidnapping attempt in Islamabad. Sharing the news on her TikTok account, she shared a video of a CCTV camera outside her home, showing a man allegedly throwing her inside a vehicle.
According to Samiya Hijab, the man behind her kidnapping was Hassan Zahid, who she said began stalking her after she turned down his marriage proposal.
The TikToker also shared a photo of the suspect, who allegedly began issuing her death threats and began showing up at her residence in the capital city.
Samiya said that the suspect arrived at her home and took her phone. After she approached his vehicle to take back her mobile, Zahid forcibly thown her in the car and drove away.
“Before this, my friend Sana died for the same reason because of rejecting [a proposal]. I do not want to become Sana,” she said.
In her video, Samiya Hijab requested the Inspector General (IG) Islamabad for protection as she refused to become another Sana Yousuf after she rejected the marriage proposal of a boy. She also urged for stronger action to prevent such incidents from continuing in Pakistan.
The TikToker also registered a case with the Islamabad police. Taking action on the complaint, the capital police arrested the suspect within a day.
It is pertinent to mention here that Samiya Hijab’s TikToker Sana Yousuf was gunned down in Islamabad on June 3 by 22-year-old Umar Hayat, alias Kaka.
According to reports, Hayat killed the 17-year-old after she repeatedly rebuffed his advances for “friendship”.
