Six lions rescued from floodwaters near Ravi River in Lahore

WEBDESK: Six lions trapped in floodwaters near the Ravi River in Lahore were successfully rescued on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The operation took place at a farmhouse on Multan Road.

The rescue was supervised by Wildlife Secretary Muddasir Riaz. Despite heavy rain and strong water pressure, wildlife rangers carried out the operation with dedication. Four boats and veterinary doctors were part of the mission.

The operation was described as highly difficult, but the rangers not only saved the lions but also prevented possible danger to human lives. The rescued animals were shifted to a safe location, where immediate medical check-ups were carried out. Their health is being monitored closely.

Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb praised the joint efforts of the Wildlife Rangers and Wildlife Rescue Force. She called it a proud operation in which the rangers risked their lives in heavy rain to save the animals.

She said the protection of wildlife is a top priority for the Punjab government. “We will not leave any living being helpless in danger. Saving wildlife is our first responsibility,” she added.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that eight deer trapped in flood-hit areas were also rescued.
