Field Marshal Asim Munir honoured with Azerbaijan’s highest military award: ‘Patriotic War Medal'

Web desk: Azerbaijan has conferred its highest military award, the Patriotic War Medal, on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in recognition of his outstanding services in strengthening military cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, as directed by President Ilham Aliyev.

Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, visited Pakistan’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, along with regional and global security developments.

The Army Chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its deep brotherly relations with Azerbaijan and congratulated the country on the successful conclusion of its peace agreement with Armenia.

The Azerbaijani delegation praised the Pakistan Army’s professionalism and its achievements in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, while also extending best wishes for Pakistan’s Independence Day and Victory Day celebrations.

Colonel General Karim Valiyev conferred upon Field Marshal Asim Munir, Azerbaijan’s prestigious Patriotic War Medal for “Services in the Field of Military Cooperation”, on behalf of President Illham Aliyev, in recognition of his exceptional contributions in Azerbaijan- Pakistan bilateral military cooperation.

He also commended Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and expressed a resolve to enhance defence and security ties.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani military leader was accorded a guard of honour at GHQ. And both sides agreed to continue joint efforts for regional peace, stability, and expanded defence collaboration.
